On this day 17 years ago (August 25, 2001), Aaliyah Dana Haughton tragically lost her life in a plane crash on the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas. She had just concluded shooting the video for hit single “Rock the Boat” and was headed back to the United States. She was only 22 years old and poised to be the biggest superstar of our time. Her legacy will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace, Aaliyah.
