Fashion Prom descended upon New York City on Monday evening…otherwise known as the Met Gala. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology. Our stars did not disappoint and came dressed to impress as the Fashion Queen herself, Anna Wintour held court for the most sought after fashion event of the year. Celebrities were challenged to dress the theme. From marvelous metallics to bridal white and avant-garde architecture. See what’s trending at the 2016 Met Gala!
MARVELOUS METALLICS
Apparently technology means silver to the fashion world because that’s what almost everyone wore. The metallic theme was strong at the Met Gala red carpet.

Silver was trending on the red carpet and whether it game in game on gunmetal or sultry silvers are stars looked fabulous. I am loving the feathered Vera Wang dress that Rita Ora donned. She looked absolutely stunning in this mixed media look. I love how she placed silver in her inner eyelids for a fantastic and futuristic look. If the Internet were to wake up and get dressed…this is what it would put on.

Kim Kardashian looked like a fashion robot in Balmain. While she definitely looks good, this is a typical Kim Kardashian look. I wish she stepped outside her comfort zone a bit!

BRIDAL WHITE WONDERLAND

The bridal white trend is not going away anytime soon. I’m not sure how this look fits the Met Gala theme but it was all over the red carpet. Who says you have to wait until Memorial Day to wear this hue?! Kate Hudson looked great in Atelier Versace. Is it just me or is Sarah Jessica Parker giving us serious Sex And The City vibes in these cropped pants and detailed blazer?! Loving her shoes!
I love the tulle train of this H&M dress that Jennifer Hudson is wearing. Her makeup looks flawless and she looks classic and chic. I’m loving the look but would expect this at an award show…not the Met Gala.

Wiz Khalifa showed up monochromatic in ivory. He looks fresh and polished. I like how he strayed away from the black pants. He looks fashionable and fresh…and not like he’s going to just any event.

AVANT-GARDE ARCHITECTURE
What’s the easiest way to pull off a stylish robotic look? Machine meets fashion when you add some architecture to your apparel! Solange made a bold move in a David Laport ensemble. While I don’t love this look, THIS is what the Met Gala is all about! Fashion! Risk! I’m here for it. Because if there’s anyplace you can wear your Starbucks vs. drinking it…it’s the Met Gala.

Want to know the star who did get the architecture correct? Lupita Nyong’o…and she didn’t even need apparel to do it. Just her fabulous hair! This is how you illustrate #BlackGirlMagic on the red carpet! Wearing a Calvin Klein Collection dress, her greatest ensemble was her marvelous to the moon hairstyle! Yes, Lupita! Slay all day!
