However, going solo comes with challenges, like footing the bill for everything—from studio time to team meals. “It’s a transition,” he admitted, though one he approached with confidence. The conversation explored his songwriting process too. Ne-Yo described how he determines whether a song is for himself or another artist. He recalled moments when tracks didn’t resonate with one artist but found success with someone else, such as Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable,” which was initially offered to other singers. Despite his success, Ne-Yo remains down-to-earth and committed to his craft.
