POSITION:
Sr Network Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Approva Corporation
Reston, VA
Responsibilities include:
Maintenance of the corporate network, including LAN/WAN connectivity, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, and other Microsoft technologies.
· Maintain Approva’s VMware landscape.
· Provide project support to senior IT staff and act as a backup for end-user requests to the IT help desk.
· Occasional off-hours support for patching, or hardware/software related issues
· Maintain a secure network environment through the upkeep of Cisco routers and firewalls, Sourcefire IDS, and other network monitoring applications
· Responsible for backup and disaster recovery for all mission critical systems
· Oversight of help desk operations and mentoring of help desk staff
Required Skills & Experience:
Computer Science Degree
Microsoft and Cisco Certifications
5+ Years Experience in a related position
Strong knowledge of VMware and SAN storage technologies
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, and related technologies
Knowledge of scripting languages, including VB, WMI, and others necessary for Microsoft network administration
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery methodologies and experience in implementing and maintaining a backup/DR regime
Experience with a wide variety of security products including firewalls, IDS, NAC, antivirus, and encryption technologies
Exceptional analytic and problem solving skills and the ability to work well independently and within a team
Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to clearly explain in business language complex technical problems, terms, and solutions
Strong customer-service orientation, a high level of enthusiasm and keen problem solving and problem identification ability
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with staff, colleagues, consultants and vendors. Confident and able to quickly establish credibility
Some night/weekend work may be required
