Audi Field in Washington, D.C., has been chosen as one of 12 U.S. stadiums to host next year’s expanded FIFA Club World Cup, an international soccer tournament featuring top club teams from around the world. FIFA, the sport’s global governing body, announced the venue selections on Saturday evening.

The 32-team competition, which will feature powerhouse clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich, is scheduled to take place from June 15 through July 13. The tournament final will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The selection of Audi Field represents “a win for the District” after its previous bid to host games for the 2026 FIFA World Cup fell short. D.C. had partnered with Baltimore in a joint bid for that tournament, which is being co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, but was not selected.
