The Takoma Park Police Department is launching a Red-Light Camera Enforcement Program on September 23 to improve traffic safety and reduce accidents caused by drivers running red lights.

During the first 30 days, drivers caught violating red lights will receive warning notices. After this grace period, full enforcement will begin, and fines will be issued for violations, with increasing penalties for repeated offenses.

The first red-light cameras will be activated at these intersections starting;

September 23rd:

  • EB Philadelphia Avenue at Piney Branch Road
  • NB Piney Branch Road at Philadelphia Avenue
  • SB Piney Branch Road at Philadelphia Avenue

September 30th:

  • SB New Hampshire Avenue at Glenside Drive
  • NB New Hampshire Avenue at Erskine Street

October 7th:

  • NB New Hampshire Avenue at Holton Lane
  • SB New Hampshire Avenue at Ethan Allen Avenue
