After violating conditions of her prison release, 49-year-old Carol Richardson of the Houston, TX area was sent back to prison as a result of being arrested on April 12 for theft of $60 of laundry detergent she planned to sell for drugs.

Richardson also failed to report being arrested, being fired from job for no-call-no-show, and changing her address, all of which are violations. .

She will now have to serve 14 months, with five years of supervised release afterwards. Clearly drugs was the main cause of Richardson risking her freedom.

What’s just as concerning is the previous life sentence was due to a 2006 conviction for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine and two counts of possession with intent to distribute according to a Houston newspaper. Why wasn’t rehab offered back then?

Hopefully Richardson takes advantage of the mandatory rehab treatment she’ll receive once released in 2018.
