brown(Washington, DC) — Former D.C. Councilman Michael Brown is planning to make a run for an at-large council seat. Brown, whose term ended yesterday, went to the D.C. Board of Elections to change his party from Independent to Democrat and he also picked up ballot petitions for the April 23rd at-large special election. According to the “Washington Post,” Brown, who lost to independent David Grosso in November, says he is ready to begin a “more professionalized” campaign in 2013 after his last effort was marked by personal matters and the alleged theft of more than 112-thousand-dollars in campaign funds. Brown and13 other candidates must secure three-thousand petition signatures by January 23rd to appear on the ballot.
