Southhampton, Long Island assistant principal Esther Adler-O’Keefe says she had no idea the content of a the Trey Songz video she appears in. But it got her in trouble anyway. Newsday reports that although Adler-O’Keefe is only in the video for less than a minute, school officials deemed her appearance inappropriate given what comes next – a group of twerkers dancing around a Long Island mansion.
The song, “Best Friend” by Trey Songz and J.R was released last month and already has over a million views on YouTube. Although Adler-O’Keefe has not disclosed publicly how she came to be in the video, in the clip, she and a man playing her husband (who could be her real-life husband) are seen leaving their home in the hands of Trey Songz. Apparently, when Adler-O’Keefe agreed to appear, she hadn’t heard any of Trey Songz’ music, much of which is sexually explicit.
Adler-O’Keefe has since been moved to another role at the school. An email suggests that the school didn’t find her participation to be setting the right example.
“It has recently come to our attention that a member of our administrative staff appeared in a music video. The video in question showcases behaviors and language use that is not promoted by the Southampton School District,” Superintendent Scott Farina said. “In fact, we actively teach our students the importance of good character and making smart choices. Additionally, this is not representative of who we are as a district nor of our students and staff.”
“I wish to state for the record that, when I agreed to participate, I was completely unaware of the content, lyrics, and title of the video and song,” Adler-O’Keefe told 27 East.

“Had I known of such content or lyrics, I certainly would not have participated in any fashion. I find the lyrics and content of the music video vulgar, offensive, and demeaning.”
