By now, you know of the controversy brewing around Latina actress Zoe Saldana being tapped to portray Nina Simone in an upcoming biopic about the legendary Jazz singer’s life. According to necolebitchie.com things have gotten more heated. Nina Simone fans and family are apparently in an uproar over the decision makers not casting a darker skinned actress to play Nina. Recently, an open letter addressing the issue was posted on the official Nina Simone website. The author of the letter accuses the film director Cynthia Mort of abusing her artistic license to spread lies about Nina Simone’s life.
