(Washington, DC) — The Metro system is preparing for excessive heat over the next few days by deploying extra staff to deal with possible heat-related problems. Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says there will be enhanced track inspections with additional personnel walking and riding on the tracks to look for signs of heat-related kinks that can shift the alignment of the tracks. In addition, there will be additional staff on hand to respond to elevator, escalator and air conditioning problems.
