(Washington, DC)  —   A report calls for an oversight hearing regarding vehicles for DC officials. Councilmember Tommy Wells’ report comes after the Lincoln Navigator “flap.”  Council Chair Kwame Brown says he’s returning his fully-loaded SUV.  But Wells says it was inappropriate for Brown to have asked for it in the first place and that officials, in getting the Lincoln, violated a DC law prohibiting the city from leasing or buying “gas guzzlers.”  Wells tells the “Washington Post” his report is preliminary, but also finds some are breaking another law banning any DC official, other than the mayor, from having a chauffeur.  Wells says some agency and department directors apparently have staff serving as dedicated drivers.
