January 23rd is celebrated as National Handwriting Day which was created by The Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association in 1977. This date was chosen because it is John Hancock’s birthday. As defined by Quora, to have excellent handwriting it must be legible, meaning easily readable, with consistent letter size and spacing, a smooth flow between letters, proper letter formation, and a balanced pressure on the paper, allowing for clear distinction between each character and word.
