Well… I think we all saw this coming. According to Billboard, Sony and R. Kelly have agreed to part ways. The fallout continues following the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly… which detailed allegations of sexual abuse with women and underaged girls. Reportedly, R. Kelly has also been removed from the RCA website.

“Kelly had been signed to Jive since the beginning of his career in the early 1990s, and when Jive became part of Sony BMG, he became part of the Sony umbrella. He has been under contract at RCA, a Sony subsidiary, since 2012.”

Earlier this week, protesters showed up outside of the Sony offices in NYC to pressure execs to release the singer. They also presented a petition that garnered over 217,000 signatures. It’s safe to say this is only the beginning of the backlash for Kells.

R. Kelly has not released a statement about the split but has denied all of the allegations in the documentary.
