#Lovers, it’s almost time for the Summer Mini Concert Series , so get ready! In just a few hours we’ll feature the music of R&B, jazz and pop singer Patti Austin. This Harlem native made her first appearance at the famous Apollo Theater at the tender age of four, she signed with RCA Records a year later! Her career skyrocketed as her vocals were featured background on commercials for McDonald’s, KFC, the United States Army and a host of others. She was known as the “Queen of the Jingles“. Austin has worked with some of the greats like Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson and Roberta Flack. This Grammy Award-winner received an honorary Doctorate of Music from Berklee College of Music in 2010.
We’ll also be celebrating her birthday a few days early!
