In a scandal now being called “Beachgate” Governor Chris Christie is under fire for enjoying the beach with family after preventing New Jersey residents from doing the same.
Fourth of July wasn’t the same for Jersey families with a tradition of gathering at state beaches for the holiday weekend.
According to the New York Times, Christie blamed the NJ government shutdown on the legislature after state lawmakers were deadlocked on the $34.7 billion budget.

Let’s see if Christie can turn this around in time for the actual Fourth of July holiday on Tuesday. It doesn’t look too promising at this point and with many going back to work on Wednesday, the damage has already been done.
