While out on work detail in Polk County, six inmates chose to save the life of the one guard in charge of supervising after he collapsed face first.
The inmates could have easily gotten away as the officer was the only guard onsite with keys to a van and a weapon, all at their disposal.
Instead of fleeing, the good prisoners opted to resuscitate the officer by opening his shirt and removing the bulletproof vest to help lower the guard’s body heat. The humidity had reached 100 percent and likely caused the correctional officer to pass-out.
We often hear about when prisoners do wrong, but here’s one time they got it right. Wonder if there’s early release in their future.
