I have never used the RUSH Card but I know the 132,000 customers who do or did use it, are relieved to know that they will be compensated for their loss. Last October, RUSH Card users were denied access to their funds, which resulted in them missing bill payments and other financial snafus.
This was all due to an error that occurred while RUSH Card—which is owned by Russell Simmons—was switching processors, the company claimed. The preliminary settlement, which still needs court approval, includes about $19 million to reimburse customers for fees and other costs they faced after they lost access to their accounts for days. The remaining $1.5 million will go toward attorney fees.
You know Russell Simmons fought tooth and nail to make sure this problem was corrected, because his name and reputation was on the line.
