It’s seems as if there’s a new biopic coming out every week and some films have been better produced than others. Living legend Aretha Franklin wants to insure her highly anticipated life story is done right so the 74-year-old reportedly has some heavy hitters on her team.

Aretha is vetting the producers from the N.W.A film, “Straight Outta Compton” to work on her story. She told The Huffington Post, “I’m in the last of the negotiations, because we have agreed on the key things and the most important things…”

She added, “It’s just something minimal to finish, and then we can move forward from there. It’s some of the people that were involved in ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ and this is gonna be ‘Straight Outta Detroit.’”

In terms of casting, Aretha alluded to either Oscar Award winner Jennifer Hudson or Tony Award winner Audra McDonald playing the lead role.

“I spoke to the young lady about a week ago — I won’t say which one of the two it was — but I spoke to her, and she’s ready. We’re gonna go forward with it” shared Aretha.

We previously reported that the film was going to air on Lifetime. We wonder if the delay in production was caused by Aretha vying for a big screen release. Beauties, would Jennifer Hudson or Audra McDonald make for a good Aretha Franklin or should an new, relatively unknown actress be cast?
