Notorious B.I.G.‘s estate has sold the digital rights of the Brooklyn rapper to ARHT Media company, who plans to create a hologram for the late, great emcee.
In an exclusive interview with Billboard, ARHT Media explains how they’re planning on bringing Biggie “back to life.”
“We have a very sophisticated transmission technology for beaming these digital humans through the public Internet to literally any point on the planet. These digital humans can scale to any size of venue so it can be in a window display, your living room or it could be in a 50,000-seat arena for a real-time delivery and display of this human hologram, that we call “Humagrams.””
Billboard also spoke to Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, who is thrilled with the ARHT media process:
“This project has been a long-time coming, and it is very special to me. Words can’t even capture how elated I am for the world to finally see my son again on stage and beyond. Christopher’s impact and legacy will not only live through his past work, but also the new experiences which have been made possible through ARHT Media,” she said.
Biggie’s Humagram is supposed to appear in Faith Evans’ music video for the first single off her King & I compilation project. There’s also reports that Biggie will appear during Puff Daddy & The Family’s “Bad Boy Reunion” concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center next month.
Back in 2012, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg changed the landscape forever when they surprised the world with a Tupac hologram at Coachella Music Festival. Since then, many friends and family of deceased music legends have created holograms for their loved ones or toyed with the possibility of bringing them back to life with the digital technology.
