Donnie Simpson is the ruling Washington DC radio icon as well as a television and movie personality. He hosted The Donnie Simpson Morning Show in Morning Drive for over 17 years. He was Billboard’s "1998 Air Personality of the Year". He is also known by the nickname "Dr. Green Eyes" for his luminous light green eyes.
Simpson began his career at age 15 at WJLB in Detroit, where he remained for eight years. In 1977 he relocated to Washington DC, where he began working at WRC-FM, known as "Disco 93.9“, now WKYS, as morning drive host and program director. Donnie’s star shone brightly as he maintained an incredible run of success on top of the Ratings throughout his tenure in Morning Drive Radio. No stranger to Radio One it’s an incredible honor to have a living legend back on the airwaves at WMMJ!
Marvin Gaye and The Isley Brothers are nominated along with George Harrison, Madonna, Sly Stone and others for induction into the 2016 Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
Eligible members have until Dec. 11 to submit their votes for three non-performing nominees, two performing nominees and one deceased nominee.
