Tupac Shakur is alive somewhere in Cuba.

No, he’s in Mexico.

Didn’t you listen to Machiavelli? Tupac faked his death.

The CIA killed Tupac.

If you’re a Hip-Hop head who listened to and loved slain rapper Tupac Shakur, you’ve probably heard a variation of one or more of the above statements. If you’re a superfan with a healthy distrust of the United States government, you probably believe some version of the last statement — insert FBI or LAPD where you will.

Tupac To Get Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame!

On Monday, the CIA, who entered the Twittersphere with arguably the most perfect tweet of all time

…decided to “take 10 mins to answer 5 of the top questions” they’ve been asked to celebrate their #Twitterversary. And in doing so, the shadowy organization flamed the enduring urban legend that Tupac still walks among us:

And the tweets went wild.

See the swift backlash below:

As previously reported by NewsOne, Shakur was shot several times in a drive-by on September 7, 1996 after attending a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he reportedly resisted treatment. He died on September 13, six days later, after his mother Afeni Shakur ordered doctors to stop reviving her son.

He was 25 years old.
