Michael Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 7th round. If you have been out of touch, he is the first openly gay player to be drafted. Now folks are upset that he will be part of an Oprah produced reality show that will document his attempt to make the team. I wonder if those same people felt the same about the HBO series “Hard Knocks” which, while not about a single player, focused on players attempting to make the team and the behind the scene story. If Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, a QB drafted by Cleveland, was offered a reality show documenting his attempt to become the starter, would there be an uproar? I doubt it. Yahoo.com has more on the decision.
