Michael Baisden is coming to the Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion. That’s good news for fans who miss his syndicated afternoon radio show Baisden Live, that touched on relationships, politics and everything in between. Although he’s been off the air since last March, Baisden, as you might expect has been keeping busy. He’s fresh off his stage play Men Cry In The Dark 2 and has become and in-house mentor at Orlando’s Evans High School.

“I’m mentoring 28 young men, we’ve got their grades up and I’m going to pay for all their college and I’m committed to them until they graduate.” Baisden told the Florida Courier that he meets with students every Tuesday and has made a 2-year commitment to the kids. He says he was inspired to become a mentor after attending a mentoring summit at the school.

When he saw thousands show up to assist in developing Black men he wanted to be involved for more than just a one-time speaking engagement. At the Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion in Orlando August 28 – September 1, Baisden will host a Summit, that includes members of his radio show audience who still communicate via Facebook.

“I gotta bring my whole Baisden Live family and it’s been about 100,000 people a month so we can get our groove on, our conversation on and hopefully get our mentoring on. We have more white men mentoring our kids than Black men and God bless and love the white man for stepping up but we can’t be last in line when it comes to mentoring our kids.”

Baisden says his seminar will encompass everything that Black folks could possibly want to discuss. His new ebook Raise Your Hand If You Have Issues and If You Didn’t Raise Your Hand, You’re Lying And That’s An Issue  talks about the dream killers in your life that can hold you back. Baisden, who featured relationships as a big part of his radio show, also says he wants folks to know that being single isn’t a disease and that if you’re married you have to customize your relationship your own way and tell people to mind their business.

“So we’ve got a lot to talk about,” Baisden says.

Baisden will also conduct auditions for Men Cry In the Dark 2 during the Family Reunion, with days and times to be decided.

TOM JOYNER:  Sybil and Jay, Michael Baisden is coming to the Family Reunion.  He’s on the phone.

J. ANTHONY BROWN:  What up, Family?

SYBIL WILKES:  Good morning.

J. ANTHONY BROWN:  (Laugh)

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  What’s up, Family?

TOM JOYNER:  What’s going on, Baisden?

J. ANTHONY BROWN:  What’s up, man?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Man, I miss you guys, man.  What’s happening?

TOM JOYNER:  Man, how long has it been?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  We, we saw each other last at your house at the Bear Super Bowl game and Jay and I saw each other at Arsenio’s first show.  So I haven’t seen Sybil in a while.

TOM JOYNER:  So what you been doing, Baisden?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Everything, man.  The new space play, me and (inaudible) just finished that, the new screenplay for God’s Gift to Women, my other book.  And the thing I’m most passionate about, man, you know, I moved to Orlando during the winter months when I rented my place in Miami and started mentoring at Evan’s High School, so a shout to Mr. Jarvis Willer, he brought in 28 young men and we’re mentoring them.  We got their grades up and I’m paying for all their college.

SYBIL WILKES:  That’s awesome.

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  We got a good thing going on down here, we’re committed to them until they graduate.

TOM JOYNER:  Wow.  Man, that’s, that’s nice.  So, so you’re going to host a seminar for us at the All State Tom Joyner Family Reunion?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Yeah, that too.  I got to bring my whole Baisden family from Facebook, man.  We’ve been chatting every day since I’ve been off the air and it’s just been growing 100,000 a month.  So I’m trying to get them all down there to the Family Reunion so we can get our groove on, get our conversation on and hopefully get our mentoring on, man.  We need more men to step up.  We have more white men mentoring our kids than black men, and mad love and god bless the white men who are stepping up, but we can’t be the last in line and mentor our kids, man.  So that’s where my passion is right now.

SYBIL WILKES:  So this seminar is for men only?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Oh, no, no, no, no.  We could talk about everything.  You know, Raise Your Hand If You Have Issues, everybody knows I’m …

SYBIL WILKES:  (Laugh)

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  … yeah, I knew you’d like that, Sybil.  I knew you’d like that.  And you should have your hands and your feet up, right?  You know, I like to talk about dream killers, you know, when I started doing radio, and I’m sure when you started doing, Jay, doing comedy, people told you couldn’t do it.  Your friends can be dream killers, family, you know, the people you’re laying in bed with, you could be sleeping with the enemy.  And for the single women out there, you know, being single is not a disease.  You know, it drives me crazy when men say what’s wrong with you that you’re single.  Well, maybe that just doesn’t tolerate the BS.  And for the married couples out there, you know, you have to customize your relationship and be married your way and tell everybody else to mind their own business.

J. ANTHONY BROWN:  Hello.

SYBIL WILKES:  How long is this seminar?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  We got a lot to talk about.

TOM JOYNER:  Got a lot to talk about.

J. ANTHONY BROWN:  Got a lot to talk about, man.

TOM JOYNER:  Yeah, yeah, yeah.  We’re going to have, uh, which day is he on?

SYBIL WILKES:  I don’t know the day.

TOM JOYNER:  I’m going to have to schedule …

SYBIL WILKES:  Yeah, I don’t have that …

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Oh, don’t worry about, we’ll definitely get to it, also we’re going to have, go ahead, Tom.

TOM JOYNER:  No, no …

SYBIL WILKES:  But you have a talent search for an upcoming project too, right?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Yeah, the Chronic Dog Space Play, we’re going to have an audition, we’re going to do it in LA, obviously I’ll give you all the details, go to Baisdenlive on Facebook, and then Tom and I, of course, we’ll be blowing it up and talking about the exact day and time in Orlando.  So it’s going to be a national stage play, it’s going tour for a year, and then we’re going to do the second stage play, which I’m not going to tell you all what that’s going to be, but we got some big time stars in this play and some great music, man.  It’s going to be phenomenal.

TOM JOYNER:  How’s your mom doing?  What you got planned for mother’s day?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Outstanding, man!  You got to get a picture with my mom, man.  She’s not going to get off me until I can get a picture with you and her.  Hey, since it’s been so cold in Chicago I can’t get my mom out of Florida, you know.  The weather’s been terrible, man.

SYBIL WILKES:  So are you going to bring her to the family reunion?

MICHAEL BAISDEN:  Oh, absolutely.  My sister lives in Orlando already, and as I said, I already got place down there.  So we all be thinking now we’re bringing the whole family.  Baisdenlive, you all better be there, we’re going to blow this thing up, we’re going to have our own party, seminar, audition for Chronic Dog Space Play, it’s going to be out of control in Orlando.

TOM JOYNER:  Michael Baisden.

J. ANTHONY BROWN:  My man.  Bringing the family.

TOM JOYNER:  Yeah.

SYBIL WILKES:  Family bringing family.

J. ANTHONY BROWN:  Yeah.
