The 2-year old son of Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson died Friday after alleged abuse. The suspect, Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, is the boyfriend of the child’s mother. According to reports, Patterson called police on Wednesday afternoon claiming that an infant was choking in his apartment. When police arrived on the scene the child was non responsive. Authorities have concluded the child suffered head injuries that are consistent with abuse. Patterson was the only person in the apartment with the infant. The suspect is currently being charged with aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault. If convicted of both charges, Patterson could face up to 40 years in prison. The mother of the child is not under investigation at this time.
Adrian Peterson took to Twitter to thank the public and his NFL “fraternity of brothers” for their support.
