(Washington, DC)  —  A statue of Frederick Douglass has been unveiled at the U.S. Capitol building. Former DC Police Chief Isaac Fulwood was among those attending the event.  House Speaker John Boehner helped dedicate the seven-foot-tall bronze statue, depicting Douglass standing at a lectern giving a speech.  Douglass, a Maryland native, was one of the finest orators of the 19th century and eventually became the leader of the abolitionist movement.  His is the fourth statue of an African-American featured in the Capitol’s Emancipation Hall.  Earlier this year, a statue of Rosa Parks was also dedicated.
