Matthew Heimbach, a student at Towson University is the leader of the White Student Union at the school and is organizing to “protect whites from blacks,” in his words. Heimbach who refers to himself as a “Southern Nationalist” was interviewed by David Mattingly of CNN, and questioned about his beliefs.

Heimbach organized a group of students and wrote derogatory messages on the campus in chalk such as “No longer will the homosexual, Muslim, or black supremacist groups be allowed to hijack our campus.” He cites his reasoning as being the crime on campus, which he believes is a result of black students, which he refers to as “predators” , targeting white students.

Heimbach insists that it isn’t racist and even went on to say that if a black student were to do what he was doing, it wouldn’t be received so negatively. In the interview he goes on to stress that the group strictly wants to better the community and safety for white female students and that they take pride in their race the way any other person would.

Ironically, the campus had its lowest crime rate in over ten years just last year.
