In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s debut as a solo artist Madame Tussauds launched the Michael Jackson Experience traveling exhibit over the weekend.

20 dancers ranging from 13- to 18-years-old from Alexandria’s Strictly Rhythm Dance Center today danced to a medley of classics by the ‘King of Pop,’ dressed in MJ-style costumes outside of the attraction. Following the performance, the dancers led a procession to the exhibit, where a two-foot tall, wax replica of Jackson’s iconic glove was also unveiled.

“Michael Jackson is one of the greatest entertainers of all time, whose achievements and musical genius will likely never be surpassed,” said Dan Rogoski, General Manager of The Presidents Gallery by Madame Tussauds. ”The Michael Jackson Experience is a wonderful way for visitors to learn about and interact with the ‘King of Pop’ in a way like never before and we know fans will enjoy the exhibit as we celebrate the anniversary of the start of his solo career.”

The Michael Jackson Experience is a traveling exhibit featuring three Michael Jackson figures from various stages of his career: The Jackson 5 Years, The ”Bad” Era and The “This Is lt” Era. This limited-time exhibit will be on display at Madame Tussauds through March 13, 2012.
