With the highly anticipated television premere of Vh1’s new reality show, Love & Hip Hop, only a few weeks away, one of the stars of the show, Mashonda, has sat down with AllHipHop.com to write an open letter discussing her family’s progression since the taping of the show began.

Aside from Mashonda, the show follows Chrissy Lampkin, who has a relationship with rapper Jim Jones,Emily Bustamante, who has a child with rapper Fabolous, Somaya Reece who has a relationship with Joe Budden, and Olivia on their search for love and success in the industry.

As you know, Mashonda is a former recording artist and had a very public divorce with ex-husband, Swizz Beats in the past. It’s great to see her speak out and hear that she is doing well!

Check out an excerpt the letter below:

“As I reflect on my life, I realize how truly blessed I am.  Not only am I the proud mother of my 4-year son Kasseem, I also now have a beautiful blended family to share in his love, development and overall health as a young man.

As we grow and mature as women, even through break-ups and sometimes divorce, we realize that none of these things compare to the love we have for our children.  As a mother, Kasseem’s happiness is the single most important thing in my life.  It took some time, but I now realize that even my former husband and his new wife, are my partners in this wonderful journey….”
