The union representing more than 16-hundred nurses at Washington Hospital Center has approved a one-day walkout to be held on March 4th. Nurses say the hospital is understaffed, and they’re overworked and underpaid. The nurses had threatened the strike before entering negotiations with hospital officials late last week but, according to a statement, there was “insufficient progress” toward resolving their concerns and they’re moving forward with the strike. In November the union voted for a one-day strike on the day before Thanksgiving, but it was later canceled when both sides agreed to keep talking.
