Unemployment around the DC area fell in November of 2010 compared to November 2009, but not by much.  Despite a big increase in the number of jobs, the unemployment rate fell to only six percent from six-point-one percent.  That’s even though more than 49-thousand new jobs came to the DC region.  Analysts say the reason the unemployment rate remained largely unchanged is that the bevy of new jobs motivated some of those who have been unemployed for a long time to try searching for work again.  Nationally the unemployment rate is well above our region’s, at nine-point-three percent.
