On Saturday morning, Lil Wayne announced via Twitter that he will be retiring from music after a nearly two-year battle with his longtime producer and mentor Birdman to get out of his contract with Cash Money Records. The announcement sparked a flurry of support from his many friends and collaborators in the music business, as well as some former rivals and living legends.

Despite being dissed by Wayne because of his budding relationship with Birdman, Thug has remained an outspoken supporter of his idol. On his Monday Twitter, Thugger announced that he is holding Wayne down for life, admitting that Weezy is the reason he raps.

Thug continued by tweeting that he wishes his love for Wayne was mutual and hoping his idol is sorry for bashing him in the past.

The legendary singer/producer assured Wayne that she will be a fan of his for life and urged him to keep his head up through the struggle.

Rich Homie Quan announced his undying support for Wayne and said he completely relates to his current dilemma after recently settling an ongoing label dispute of his own.

Brooklyn’s lyrical prodigy showed his respect by thanking Wayne for everything he has done throughout his legendary career.

The Chicago rhymer sent some big words of encouragement to Wayne, possibly relating to Weezy’s struggle after his own longterm standoff with his label, Atlantic Records.
