Located in the predominately African-American community of South Los Angeles, Rodeo Road will be renamed Obama Boulevard thanks to a vote by The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday.
President Herb Wesson proposed the potential name change in 2017 to honor the 44th president, who campaigned on the street at Rancho Cienega Sports Center and Park during his run for the Oval Office.
Obama Boulevard will not be the first street named after the former President. Obama Way is located in the Monterey Bay town of Seaside, California.
