On Monday there was no repeat of the black catsuit that Serena Williams, a six-time US Open champion, wore at the French Open.
Last year at this time, Williams was less than a week away from giving birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia. Post-delivery, Williams suffered from a serious and dangerous condition: blood clots. According to Williams, the outfit that she wore to the French Open was compression-styled design to ward off blood clots.
The French Tennis Federation president Bernard Giudicelli said the form-fitting outfit was banned from future tournaments.
At the US Open, Williams wore a black leather biker jacket ornamented with white stitching designed by top fashion designer, Virgil Abloh, in collaboration with Nike. Underneath she wore a black one-shoulder silhouette dress and a tulle skirt. A gear bag with the words “AKA Queen” and limited edition shoe completed the ensemble.
