Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) and commentator Angela Rye will appear on BET this week with alternative responses to Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address. The Congresswoman will appear on BET immediately following the SOTU on Tuesday night. On Wednesday evening, Rye will present a SOTU rebuttal in the form of a primetime hour on BET for Angela Rye’s State Of The Union, part of a broader partnership announced just days ago between Rye and the network. Rye will host a panel with several activists and elected officials who will analyze Trump’s first year in office on the program, and discuss building “Black politics and the value of engagement across today’s socio-political landscape.”
