Diamond Reynolds, who live streamed on Facebook the moments immediately after her boyfriend Philando Castile was shot and killed in his car, will receive nearly $1 million in settlement money for her treatment in the 2016 incident.
Reynolds will be awarded $675,000 from the city of St. Anthony after the city council voted in favor of the settlement money on Tuesday evening. She will also receive an additional $125,000 from the City of Roseville and the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust, bringing her total settlement amount to $800,000. By accepting this settlement, Reynolds ends any legal claims she may have against the cities stemming from Castile’s death at the hands of St. Anthony Police Officer Jeronimo Yanez, and the subsequent detention she and her daughter experienced in the nearby city of Roseville.
