O.J. Simpson Parole Hearing

Nearly 2-months after it granted O.J. Simpson parole after 8 years served for charges including armed robbery, the Nevada parole board disclosed that they were not aware of his spousal abuse charge from 1989.

The question remains, if this misdemeanor charge was not omitted from the federal clearinghouse of FBI crime data, would Simpson still have been granted parole?

The parole board said in July it would not consider a civil judgment that found Simpson liable for the 1994 killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman in his hearing. However, legislation has been proposed to require the board to consider a prisoner’s domestic violence history before granting parole.

O.J. Simpson is scheduled to be released as early as this Sunday October 1.
