Earlier this month, Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal (D) wrote, “I hope Trump is assassinated!” in a morning Facebook exchange. She quickly deleted her post, but not before others saw it. By mid-afternoon, Congressman Lacy Clay (D-MO) weighed in: “Calling for the assassination of the President is a federal crime. … (She is) an embarrassment to our state. She should resign immediately.” He was joined in his sentiments by Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) who said, “Missouri state senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal should resign,” and many other elected officials across the state.
