The industry is buzzing about Epic Records CEO “L.A.” Reid’s sudden departure from Sony Music. Reid had been in the position for 6 years which he relaunched for urban acts such as Future, Khaled, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, and more. He’s also responsible for a lot of the success of Mariah Carey, Meghan Trainor, and Fifth Harmony. On Wednesday, LA Reid tweeted the cryptic message: “Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat”. What we do know is there was talk of a possible shake up coming with the recent hiring new Sony Music CEO Rob Stringer.
