In a lecture given at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and TV, Director Lee Daniels opened up about his reckless past. He revealed that he once tried to commit suicide while hhigh on drugs, by having unprotected sex with strangers at bathhouses in an effort to contract AIDS.Lee Daniels says at that time, AIDS was pretty much taking all his friends away and he didn’t understand why he was still alive when so many great people around him were dying. He felt he needed to go too, so he turned to drugs and sex. He also says he can’t believe he’s AIDS free. It’s truly a blessing that he is here to talk about it.
