Welp… you already knew the backlash was going to pour in for Chrisette Michele agreeing to perform at Trump’s inauguration. She released a statement basically saying that she wants to be a voice for our people.

“My heart is broken for our country, for the hopes of our children, for the fights of those who came before us. Today, I hope that Great Moments begin in peaceful & progressive conversation. I am willing to be a bridge. I don’t mind “These Stones”, if they allow me to be a voice for the voiceless.”

Mmm… ok… Well… Spike Lee says he’s disappointed about the whole situation. He’s so disappointed that he decided NOT to use her music in his new project for Netflix. He tweeted that he was thinking about using her song – “Black Girl Magic” – in his upcoming series ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ but… “NOT ANYMORE. And Dat’s Da Truth Ruth.” I can’t make this up. That’s exactly what he said.

Oh, and Questlove said he would pay Chrisette Michele NOT to perform at the inauguration. So… yea…
