President Barack Obama rang The “Freedom Bell” at The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African-American History and Culture.  In much anticipation to showcase historical artifacts and information from a place to call “our own”, the bell will not stay.  The “Freedom Bell will return to Williamsburg VA to its home at First Baptist Church, where its roots began in 1880.  This historical bell was transferred to Washington D.C. for the opening ceremony as it is the bell from the first Baptist Church where African Americans came together to worship.  Prior to a place to worship in a church, believers would hold services in brush arbors beginning in 1776.  When slaves were freed church bells rang out across the land. Today is a historic day, even for a bell.  So yes! Let Freedom Ring!
