We all know Jerry Heller’s history with N.W.A. after watching the movie “Straight Outta Compton” like 20 times. Sadly, Jerry was in a car accident Friday around noon and the initial investigation that states he may have suffered a medical emergency to cause the wreck. So, we’re not sure if he died from the medical emergency, the crash or something else….but his lawyer, Mickey Shapiro blames Jerry’s death on the movie.
Shapiro believes that it was stress attributed to the release of the movie that ultimately led to the former managers death. Shapiro even went so far as to state that if the movie had not been released, Jerry would not have passed away Friday…he said that the film left Jerry “heart broken.”
Before he passed, Jerry was suing the producers of “Straight Outta Compton,” for $110 million in damages. He was suing for $35 million in compensatory damages, $75 million in punitive damages plus all box office profits. He really did not like the way he was portrayed.
His lawyers think the film killed him, but what if it was guilt???
I guess no one will ever really know…but I can say this, THANK YOU Jerry for discovering some of the best artists in HipHop. You may not have had the best business practices in the world…but we probably would not have even known N.W.A if it weren’t for you and for that we thank you. Rest In Peace!
