Tragedy is inescapable these days. And luckily, celebrities like Beyonce, are willing to keep the issues at the forefront of our consciousness.

Saturday July 16, the singer changed her choreography during her Amsterdam, Netherlands concert of the Formation World Tour, to reflect the sentiment of this country. While her song, “Diva” played she changed the moves and put her hands up where she usually shoots a gun.

Soon after the killings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, LA and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, MN attributed to excessive police force, Queen Bey posted a message on her website voicing her remorse and sharing where fans could contact their local legislature.

“We’re going to stand up as a community and fight against anyone who believes that murder or any violent action by those who are sworn in to protest us should consistently go unpunished,” she wrote. “These robberies of lives make us feel helpless and hopeless but we have to believe that we are fighting for the rights of the next generation, for the next young men and women who believe in good.”

In addition to her work, her sister Solange Knowles shared a list of black-owned banks for those interested in making a monetary statement.
