An early Monday morning road rage incident left 37-year-old Delron Dempsey dead. According to police, he was shot and killed by an off-duty officer during a traffic dispute in Brooklyn, New York.

Allegedly, Delron got out of his silver 2016 Kia EX and punched Wayne Isaacs twice in his head through the car window in East New York around midnight. The off-duty officer fired three point-blank gunshots, the police said, and Delron died at the scene. The 37-year-old cop has contusions to his head and will recover.

Police

Ali Dempsey, Delron’s brother, said Delron was with his girlfriend, their newborn baby, and her two teenage children.

Ali stated:

“The only reason he got out of the car was because the family was in the car. He was concerned. He wanted to question the guy, like, what’s your angle? And that was his angle … he killed him.”

Law enforcement sources said the officer has been with the force for three years with no prior disciplinary issues. Delron had 19 prior arrests. The family believes foul play was involved and has hired an attorney.

What a sad way to end the July 4th weekend. Rest in power, Delron Dempsey.
