Celebrity cameos are nothing new for The Simpsons. But a Prince appearance? That’s something to get excited about.

After The Purple One died last week, showrunner Al Jean revealed the staff reached out to Prince to star on the show before, but to no avail. The legendary singer was known for leading a very private life and turned down the opportunity.

The Independent reports:

Although he made a brief cameo in “Treehouse of Horror XIX,” the music icon never had his own episode, even though there was one written all about him.

The first scene sees Lisa attempting to buy tickets to a Prince concert in Springfield, yet her attempts are ruined by a pesky spider.

In the second scene, Marge’s sister Selma reveals she’s a huge fan of Prince and expresses her love for Under the Cherry Moon:

While The Simpsons/Prince episode never happened, his Saturday Night Live after-party this weekend made up for it.
