Human remains found in a wooded area near Bristol, UK have been confirmed to be those of missing Derek Serpell-Morris, known as DJ Derek.

The 74-year-old, who was famously known as “Britain’s oldest DJ,” went missing in July 2015 after last being seen at a local pub.

While officials weren’t initially sure the remains were his, his great-niece Jennifer Griffiths had a feeling they were, telling the Bristol Post, “As soon as I heard the news last night I was convinced it was him. I have spoken to the rest of the family and we all feel the same way.

Police are treating the death as unexplained and a postmortem examination will be carried out by a Home Office pathologist to determine the cause of death, The Guardian reports.

DJ Derek’s fame blossomed in his mid-30s when he took up DJing and in 2012, he even received the Bristol Lord Mayor’s medal for outstanding contribution to music in the city. He was also known for ending most of his sets with Bob Marley‘s “One Love” and appeared in one of Dizzee Rascal‘s music videos.
