Before the TV show “Scandal” one of the ultimate scandals of the early 90s was the Anita Hill, Clarence Thomas trials. Hill, a law professor accused Judge Thomas of sexual harassment.
While Hill seemingly loss the infamous “he said, she said” battle when Thomas was voted into the Supreme Court by the narrowest margin in history, 52–48; her testimony went on to impact and influence the way in which sexual harassment cases were treated in the work force.
While the trailer looks intense and we’re definitely here for the retelling of such a prolific case, we can’t seem to separate Olivia Pope from Anita Hill…Maybe because both projects are so politically infused?
We hope we aren’t spending two hours of “Confirmation” feeling like we’re in a long dream sequence for “Scandal”. The film has definitely been a passion project for Kerry who serves as one of the film’s executive producers.
“Confirmation” also stars Wendell Pierce as Clarence Thomas and Kimberly Elise as Sonia Jarvis, a civil rights attorney on Hill’s legal team. Jennifer Hudson also makes a cameo appearance as Angela Wright, another Thomas accuser, who was subpoenaed but was never called to testify before the Judiciary Committee.
