A 14-year-old boy, missing since Monday is being searched for in Washington, D.C., and police are asking the public for assistance. As many people know, African-American children and teens who go missing do not always generate the major media coverage that can assist in helping them return home. The Black and Missing Foundation was created to address that injustice and help families find their loved ones.
“Families with a missing loved one cling to hope, founders Derrica Wilson and Natalie Wilson say in a statement on their website. “Hope that their loved one will return home. Hope that law enforcement will be proactive. Hope that the media will get involved. Hope that members of the community will come forward with vital information to bring their loved one home. At BAM FI, we are dedicated to “BEING THE VOICE FOR THE MISSING” by providing a platform of hope for the overwhelming number of missing persons of color.
