According to reports, the U.S. high school dropout rate has significantly plunged over the past few years. In 2008, there were 1 million dropouts and in 2012, that number dropped to 750,000. Over the course of that time period, schools that were dubbed “dropout factories” for having low graduation rates and a small number of students graduating on time were on the decline as well. “Clear progress is being made,” said Bob Wise, leader of the Alliance for Excellent Education. “It’s not a total success yet. We shouldn’t take a victory lap. But we can at least start warming up.” As the dropout rate fell, the high school graduation rate has risen. In 2013, 81 percent of students graduated on time. University of Missouri Students and Faculty Try to Block Media Coverage

The protests at the University of Missouri have attracted a lot of media attention, but some of the students and faculty don’t want the institution in the spotlight. Another Bill Cosby Accuser Sues For Defamation

Comedian Bill Cosby is being hit with yet another defamation lawsuit. Kristina Ruehli, 72, one of the many women who have stepped forward claiming that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her, is claiming that once she shared her story, he labeled her a liar. Ruehli claims the incident happened in 1965 when she was working as a secretary for a talent agency. She allegedly visited Cosby’s house and blacked out after having two drinks. When she woke up, she was undressed and the comedian was allegedly trying to engage in a sexual act with her. “It is one thing for an accused sexual assailant to remain silent and allow the legal process, or public opinion, to run its course, but it is quite another for him to unleash his agents to deny that he attacked (Ruehli) and other women, to invite others to republish his statements, and to brand them as unreliable liars,” read Ruehli’s lawsuit. More than 50 women have come forward to claim they were drugged and sexually abused by Cosby. Read more.
